At His Table

**You can listen to this post on my podcast here.

It is so easy to question what God allows our lives to be.

It is easy to feel that our work is mundane and not valuable for Christ.

It is easy to question why things aren’t working out the way we thought they should.

Why are health issues allowed to cause such havoc?
Why does God allow so many obstacles?
Why has He closed so many doors?
Why has He not given willing servants “bigger” work?
Why do we feel so invisible?

 Why, why, why…….

Then quietly, God calls us to His table to reason together.

He begins to remind us of principals and
scriptures that restore our trust
that we are
doing the work He has planned for us.

He reminds us that He sees our hearts.
He sees they are willing to be shaped, molded, reprimanded, moved.

He reminds us that in His great wisdom and care, He protects us from projects that are too ambitious, or projects that we don’t yet have the wisdom needed to bring Him the most glory.

He reminds us that He may be protecting us from something we do not yet have the humility to handle, that He still needs to work on the pride that runs through our veins.

He reminds us that when we see a closed door, it is His loving hand protecting us.

He tells us that if we continue to walk with Him each day, then everything we are doing is exactly His will.

He reminds us that being a parent or a spouse is a great ministry.

He reminds us that our mundane tasks of dishes, laundry, errands, and or going to work are exactly what He wants us to do right now.

He tells us that showing kindness and care to our family, to our brothers and sisters in Christ, to strangers is very important work.

He reminds us that listening for peoples’ needs so we know how to pray is very important work.

He reminds us that being faithful to His house,
faithful to share His gospel, faithful when
no one is watching is very important work.

He shows us that we can trust Him to use us in any way He sees fit,
no matter what capacity that is.

He reminds us that no trial or loss we have gone through is in vain.
That no pain, sorrow, neglect or sickness has been without purpose.

He reminds us that He loves restoring our sin and ashes to beauty because it brings Him glory.

After sitting at His table, hearing Him speak His gentle truth,
we can again trust that He is working in our lives every moment.

We are not missing out on anything.
His plan is always the best plan.

We can rest and have peace.

No matter what He allows, we can trust Him.

No matter what He doesn’t allow, we can trust Him.

He is faithful. He is good. His hand is upon us.

My flesh and my heart faileth: but God is the strength
of my heart, and my portion for ever.
Psalm 73:26

And let us not be weary in well doing:
for in due season
we shall reap, if we faint not.
Galatians 6:9

Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable,
always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know
that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.
I Corinthians 15:58

The substance of a diligent man is precious.
Proverbs 12:27b

…to give unto them beauty for ashes,
…that they might be called trees of righteousness,
the planting of the Lord, that he might be glorified.
Isaiah 61:3
